Target Sport Programs
A Specialty Camp to Target sport programs at Camp Appanoose that include both riflery and archery.
With over forty thousand acres of public hunting access in the vicinity, target sports are a natural. A one hundred meter shooting range on the camp ground provides facility for sport and skill development.
- Iowa Hunter Safety Course – Take your hunter safety course at camp and become qualified to participate in hunting sports in Iowa. This course may be taken during Target Sport Camp.
- Youth Deer Hunts – Held on several weekends in the fall, the Youth Deer Hunts are one-on-one guided hunting opportunities for teens 12-19 who qualify. Housing and meals are provided at camp. An Iowa Hunter’s Safety Course certificate and necessary hunting licenses are pre-requisites for participation in a deer hunt. Preference will be given to youth who have successfully completed the Target Sport Camp.
Staff
Along with the Camp Appanoose staff, Stuart Voeller leads a volunteer team in assuring that every participant in the target sport programs enjoys a quality experience.
With many years of hunting experience, Stuart has guided hunts in Iowa and throughout the Midwest. Over the years he has taught classes in nearly every aspect of white tail hunting.
His own hunting experiences have taken him throughout the country and even allowed him to harvest a record deer. He has worked in herd management with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
Along with being a licensed archery instructor, Stuart holds Iowa High School Coaching certification and is pastor of Grace Alive Church in Prairie City, Iowa.
