Spiritual Foundations

We affirm that God has spoken to the entire human race through the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments which are without error in their original manuscripts. The Scriptures are foundational to an understanding of this present world’s origin, the human condition, and the means which God has provided for man’s salvation. All truth finds its ultimate source in the Creator revealed in His Word.

We affirm that there is one God, eternally existing in three person’s; the Father who decrees, the Son who executes, and the Holy Spirit Who empowers the Divine plan. Among His attributes, are omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, holiness, mercy, and love. God through His word spoke the universe into existence.

We affirm the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His blood which was shed, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. We affirm the value of human life and the need to protect it from the point of conception. Human beings, created as the crowning objects of creation, have fallen from God’s high purpose due to the entrance of sin into the human race, and have no ability to regain favor with God. Only through the substitutionary death of Christ and the regeneration of the Holy Spirit is realizing the commonality of the human condition and the love which God has extended to sinful mankind.

We affirm our faith in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit in the lives of those who have placed personal faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. He alone enables the believer to live a godly life and progress in maturity and holiness. He gifts believers for service to the Body of Christ and empowers them to the work for which God designed them. We affirm the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost; of the saved to eternal joy in the presence of the Lord; and of the lost to judgment and eternal conscious punishment.

We affirm that God has established the family, church, and government as unique institutions of authority, nurture and responsibility in human society. The family is the first of divine institutions, and bears primary responsibility for the nurture and provision of its members. Marriage is a covenant relationship between a man and a woman and is intended to be monogamous for the duration of life. The local church is the spiritual community which was established by Christ and penetrates all ethnic and social boundaries, bringing unity to believers for the purpose of common nurture, welfare and mission. Government was established for the protection of its citizens from evil doers and for the maintenance of societal order.

We affirm the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, which finds expression in an all encompassing commitment to the glory of God and the Person of Christ. Further information regarding the teaching position of Camp Appanoose may be obtained by writing to:
