Board Members


Camp Appanoose Board Members, L-R: Dell Collins, Leona Cochran, Jeannette Griener, Cynthia Amsden, Tom Dent, Jim Dusenbery, Deb Moyer, Ken Bailey, Pat AmsdenAll members of the Board of Directors confess their personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, are in agreement with the Biblical Foundations of this agency, and are financial supporters of Camp Appanoose, Inc. Board members normally serve three year terms and meet at least four times per year. Each board member is actively involved in an evangelical church in his or her locality.

Ken Bailey is a graphic artist and owns Imagine 5 Graphics in Des Moines, Iowa. His education is from DMACC in Ankeny. Ken designs nearly all of the camp’s printed materials. He makes his home in Des Moines with his wife Jeanne. They have two married sons and five grandchildren.

Dell Collins is the Director of Facilities at Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella, Iowa. Dell holds a BSCE degree from California State University, Long Beach and an M.S. degree in Construction Management from Stanford University. He formerly worked for Toyota in Los Angeles, CA. Dell works with various areas of facility and program development at the camp. He and his wife, Julie, have two grown daughters.

Jim Dusenbery is retired from the family food service business which he owned and operated for many years. A graduate of Wentworth Military Academy, Jim and his wife, of well over fifty years, raised three children, all adults now and in their own homes. Many years of leadership in a Des Moines congregation led to much involvement with mission projects around the globe, Jim is also on the board of Steiger Ministries and “No Longer Music” which touches the lives of young people throughout the world.

Tom Dent owns and operates Dent Farms, a family farming operation. He has worked in the construction industry and currently serves on the boards of several commercial enterprises, as well as Camp Appanoose, Inc. With his wife, Denise, an educator, he is father to two teenage daughters, and resides near Humeston, Iowa.

Jeannette Griener has had a varied career in property management, historical preservation and diversified agriculture projects. A true entrepreneur, with her husband Bruce, she has recently been involved with the commercial production of aronia berries. Living in the greater Des Moines area, Jeanette has a passion to see young people grow in their walk with Christ and to develop productive life commitments.

Bev Moyer, originally from Centerville, Iowa, with her husband, Jim, has a background in real estate, investment and construction. Owners of Florida Built Right, their business is located on Marco Island, Florida. With four grown children in several states, they have a passion to see young people know Jesus Christ in a personal way. Bev serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the corporation. Jim is sometimes a chapel speaker for our summer camps.

Leona Cochran has enjoyed a successful 35+ year career with Principal in Des Moines, with management responsibilities for the past 15 years.  A Des Moines native, Leona enjoys all things family.  She loves to cook for her family…5 daughters, 4 grandsons, 1 God grandson and 2 granddaughters, as well as fishing together and attending her granson’s sporting events.  Leadership and serving experiences in her church (choir, youth work – AWANA!, ladies Sunday School class facilitator) have made her a valuable member of the Camp Appanoose board!
